21st WIKF British Nationals – 15 Athletes - 15 Medals !!!

Post date: Mar 17, 2012 9:57:50 PM

Sixteen members of the Ken-Bu-Kan squad travelled to Leicester to compete at the 21th WIKF British National Championships.  This year saw a number of Ken-Bu-Kan “Young Guns” in the squad alongside the regular “All Stars”.  The squad came home winning 6 National Gold medals, 4 Silvers and 5 Bronzes.   Once again great achievement with only a handful of competitors compared to the bigger clubs in the country, which clearly shows the standard and excellence of the Ken-Bu-Kan Karate squad, its teaching, coaching level and methods.

Congratulations to the following medallists:

National Champions

Jay Kirton, Aneesha Pancha, Jerome Brown, Nikkisha Bailey, Danielle Kirby and  Brandon Wilkins.

Silver Medallist

Dan Farrelly, Nikkisha Bailey, Aneesha Pancha, Gavin Bailey, Jay Kirton and     Marvin Kirton

Bronze Medallist

Gavin Bailey, Robert Camp, Charlie Coulson, Dan Farrelly, Isaac Beck, Brandon Wilkins, Max Beesley and Rory Farragher

Sensei Andy (Above Centre) with Ken-Bu-Kan’s “Young Guns” (L-R):  Dan Farrelly, Isaac Beck, Zal Sanei, Jack Ward, Rory Farragher and Max Beesley.

Well done the youngest two competitors, Zal Sanei aged 7 and Jack Ward aged 8, who bothfought well in the individuals and then joined up in the team event.  Zal was unlucky to lose at the quarter final stage and although Jack missed out on a medal, he scored more head kicks per bout than any other athlete.  Well done boys!!!

Finally, a very big thank you to Hana and Amir Sanei who helped as table officials all day (Well done to you both!!!) and to all the parents and supporters who travelled this year with the squad.
