About Sensei Andreas
Sensei Andreas Michaelides began training at the age of 5 and is currently one of the highest official graded instructors in the World. For the past two decades Sensei Andreas has been regarded as one of the most successful instructors and coaches of Sport Karate both in the England and internationally, having taught dozens or domestic and international champions, both individual and teams.

From an early age, Sensei Andreas demonstrated his technical and competitive ability, by passing all his Kyu grades examinations first time under Japanese examiners and winning numerous Regional and National titles as a Junior athlete. After nearly 10 years of continuous training, Sensei Andreas at the age of 15 successfully passed his 1st Dan black belt under Master Tatsuo Suzuki 8th Dan, the Worlds Chief Instructor. As well as continuing to pass his Dan grades and opening his first school in North London, Sensei Andreas began his competitive career in the mid 1990’s, representing England for the first time at the WIFK World Wado Championships in Florida, USA and reaching the finals.
At the age of 26, Sensei Andreas became one of the youngest official Wado Ryu 4th Dan grade in the World and repeated this at 31 years of age after Master Tatsuo Suzuki awarded Sensei Andreas with his 5th Dan. His most honourable award came in early 2011, when his last Sensei, Master Tatsuo Suzuki awarded Sensei Andreas with his 6th Dan Black Belt, becoming the youngest official Wado Ryu 6th Dan in the World and last to be awared by Sensei Tatsuo Suzuki . To date only 50 students World wide have achieved such a rank.
In 2019, whilst organising and competing in the 9th WIKF World Wado Championships, which were held in London, Sensei Andreas at just 43 years of age was awarded his 7th Dan Black Belt. This was an incredible achievement for such a young age and was an emotional moment as the award was given to him during the competition's opening ceremony amongst all his students, athletes, family, friends and colleagues in the Karate world.

Over the past 3 decades, Sensei Andreas has competed in both Kumite and Kata competitions around the world and has won most of the major titles. His main achievements have been:
