More Success For The Ken-Bu-Kan Squad In Central England!!!

11 members of Ken-Bu-Kan’s Sport Karate team travelled to Walsall to compete at the Central England Open Championships. The squad travelled to Nottingham the day before for a WIKF Squad session and ended the day with an evening meal and a team bonding session at our hotel. Although not all members of the squad medalled on this occasion, ALL of WIKF’s Gold and Silver medals came from the Ken-Bu-Kan squad once again showing their dominance in the association. The squad came away with 4 Golds, 2 Silvers and 2 Bronze medals and helped the association to a top 5 finish in the medal table.
Nya Enver secured our first Gold medal in the under 4’3 Peewee event and after pulling out her wobbly tooth just before her final bout, who would dare compete against her!!! Nya then fought in the category above and took a Bronze in that too.

Jack Ward (Current All Styles English Champion) was next to compete and was hoping for better results than the last month’s competition. It was double success for Jack, as he won not only his category but also the section above. Double gold medallist and Jack looked back to winning form.

Nikkisha Bailey (England’s Cadet No.1 Heavy weight) firstly took Bronze in her category and then amazingly got to the final of the Female Junior event, narrowly losing to an athlete who was nearly 3 years older than her to take the Silver medal. Impressive results for England’s no.1!!!
Joe Kellaway (England’s Junior No.1 Middle Weight) was in awesome form in his category, winning his rounds in style to take yet another Gold Medal. Joe at 16 years old then stepped up into the Senior Male event and reached the final to take a deserved Silver Medal.
Finally Gavin Bailey took the mat in the Senior Male middle weight category. Although, Gavin normally competes in the light weight division he still and managed to secure and add yet another Bronze medal to his senior Career.
