Joe Kellaway and Nikkisha Bailey Suffer Surprise Early Exits In Spain!

Post date: Dec 04, 2013 10:2:26 AM

Even though both athletes were in prime condition and peaked for this event, they both suffered surprise early exits.  Nikkisha Bailey was unable to go one round better than her European debut earlier in the year and lost 3-5 to her Czech opponent.  For the past 2 years, Nikkisha has been battling in this weight section competing against the best athletes in the World, most of them having a favourable height advantage over her.  Nikkisha will now look towards her new age and weight division in 2014, which will put her on even grounds!

Despite winning his first bout 1-0, Joe Kellaway under performed and in round 2, couldn’t get motoring as Joe lost 0-6 against his Egyptian opponent.  Even with Joe’s vast experience and success on the International Open circuit, Joe couldn’t get in the medal position this time.   This is a demonstration of the extreme high level, athletic abilities and pressures of the World of Sport Karate!

So early exits for both athletes, but it is another England cap for their careers and most importantly, invaluable experience as they both look towards new categories in 2014.
