Joe Kellaway Bows Out Of The 41st European Championships On Flags!!

After weeks of hard training and some excellent performances in late 2013, Joe Kellaway had his sights clearly set on the 41st European Championships.  Although every athlete was a potential medallist, Joe was gifted with the better half of the pool and a more “comfortable” first round opponent.  Joe Started well against his Austrian opponent, taking the lead early on and look set to advance to the 2nd round but only to lose concentration in the last 30 seconds.  The bout ended in a draw and the decision went against Joe this time.

So another disappointment for Joe on his 5th England Cap at the biggest European event in the season.  Perhaps a different result had Joe delivered the form that both he and the whole of England expected and witnessed in November 2013, after beating the World no. 2 in the final of the Belgium Open and then taking 5th place at the prestigious Karate Youth Cup in Austria.

Joe should be proud of his achievement as the highest England capped Cadet & Junior England athlete, having represented England in 5 successive events.
