Jerome Brown and Gavin Bailey took the stage at the biggest European Karate event, competing at the 38th EKF Cadet and Junior European Championships in Serbia.  After getting through a tough and lengthy selection process in 2010, Jerome and Gavin finally began their quest for European glory.

Gavin Bailey competing for the second time in the Junior 18-20 year old division, was in good form beating Romania first round and then Belarus in the second.  Gavin narrowly lost out in the third round to Italy and although was handed a lifeline getting a chance to fight off for Bronze in repocharge, Gavin lost to his Slovenian opponent by just one point.

Jerome Brown, competing in the Cadet 14-15 years light heavy weight division was in excellent form, firstly beating the current European Champion from Italy in style, then Czech Republic, followed by Greece and then finally beating Bosnia to earn his place in the show case final.  Jerome faced France in the final and started well but the French competitor was proving elusive and scored the opening point. Jerome attacked back in order to reduce the deficit but dropped another point.  Jerome couldn't score against his opponent and eventually lost out 2-0, but secured the European Silver medal.
